The reading claims that some historians have expressed doubts that Peary did in fact reach the North Pole, and provides three reasons of support. In contrast, the professor states that there is no solid evidence and the arguments in the passage are not convincing, and she refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the article avers that the National Geographic Society put together a committee that was instructed to conduct a thorough investigation of Peary's record and equipment and they found the Peary's account is true. However, the professor opposes this point by stating that it is true that The National Society declared that, but their report was not objective. In fact, she mentions that the members of the National Society are friends of Peary and the investigation is done in two days which is impossible to do, so the Peary's records didn't examine carefully. She states that the National Society is baise and their investigation is not true.
Second, the passage posits that a recent expedition by Tom provides support of Peary's claim that he reached the Pole in only 37 days. Conversely, the lecturer counters this point by saying that the dogsled used by Tom is less in weight than Peary's dogsled because Peary took with him food and the weather was harsh. Actually, Tom didn't transport food with him and the weather condition is better so the speed is different to Peary.
Third, the passage asserts that there are photographs taken by Peary that support his claim to have reached the North of Pole. On the other hand, the professor casts doubt on this point by explaining that photographs are not approved that he reached the Pole. According to the professor, Peary used primitive camera that takes fossy pictures and the photographs were faded and blurrd, so shade in the pictures can't use tot calculate the Surf's position. They are not confident about the photogarphs.
