She mentioned that animal produce current to get food to survival. For example, when capturing prey, eel produce current to shock and paralysis their prey and enjoy in their leisure time.
Another purpose for producing current is to create a electric field in order to detect object nearby and navigate, which helps a lot for those fish with poor visual ability and those in the muddy water.
