This is the structure I read
This is the structure I read for 'Not only..., but also'
Not only+ question form of independent clause+ but also+ independent clause.
So what's wrong within this structure?
when 'Not only..., but also'
when 'Not only..., but also' is in the middle of the content, we can use this structure:
'Not only A..., but also B'
The car not only is economical but also feels good to drive.
To add emphasis, we can use 'not only' at the beginning of a clause. When we do this, we invert the subject and the verb:
Not only was it raining all day at the wedding but also the band was late.
Not only will they paint the outside of the house but also the inside.
Thank you for your reply.
Thank you for your reply. Still, I don not convinced.
This is the sentence I spoke:
Not only will the appropriate decision take (inverted clause), but also all the member of the group will be satisfied (independent clause).
Moreover, I feel the problem is not within the structure. In fact, the problem is within the transition I used, and I believed the two sentences in 'Not only..., but also...' should have the same subject.
would you please write the correct form of my sentences?
Thanks in advance
You are correct. We listened
You are correct. We listened it to: 'Not only we'll the appropriate ....'
two sentences in 'Not only..., but also...' don't need the same subject. for example:
Not only was it raining all day at the wedding but also the band was late.
two subject are: 'It' and 'the band'
the subjects are different.
