There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the international music that is heard everywhere nowadays?
Today, there are lots of music genres and tastes in the world. There are a variety of reasons why people need music. Thereby, there is a debatable question which I will argue below whether traditional music is more important than international music or vice versa.
Above all, music, as it is said, is the food of soul, furthermore, it is a thing without which we cannot imagine our lives. Firstly, music expresses and arouses emotions at the same time. It indicates feelings, thoughts, ideas which words cannot convey alone. We hear music which helps us to realize the world more easily from our childhood, in our later life, we fancy some styles of music that we feel relaxing and happy under the voice of it. Some are fans of traditional music, others enjoy listening to international music which is more widely spread nowadays.
Undoubtedly, nobody denies the importance of music; however there is an arguable question either traditional music of a country or international music is more important. To me, folk music of different peoples is more vital than international music genres such as pop, rock, R&B and etc. First reason why traditional music is more important is its cultural identity. It connects past and today by describing the lifestyles, cultural lives of our ancestors. In contrast, the international music genres have only a commercial face, which is generally done for business. At the same time, I should add that “tastes differ” as it said in a proverb which means the music choice of individuals depends on their tastes.
Summarize, I write down it surely that we cannot subsist without music. Especially, traditional music helps us to survive our national and cultural identity under conditions of globalizing.
