Sadly, widespread negative images of businesspeople have been created in large part by television. Consider the fact that, although they make up a mere 10 percent of the characters in dramatic roles on television, businesspeople are responsible for about one-fifth of all the crime on television shows. In fact, in a recent survey of television producers, only 35 percent of the television roles for businesspeople were viewed as positive ones
The above argument is about the negative images of the businesspeople created by television. The auther trying to say it sorrowfully and with lots of sad emothions. The writer again says that "although they make up a mere 10 percent of the character in dramatic roles on television, business people are responsible for about one-fifth of all the crime on television show". And further more he states that in a recent survey od television producers, only 35 percent of the television roles for businesspeople viewed as positive ones. The argument is baseless and not convincing eventhough it is based on survey.
First of that the author states that "the negative images of the businesspeople created by television". If you take a overall example it seems like true but it is only seems like not exactly true. Because television is for an entertainment and there has to be some characters. Sometimes they are poor and needy and sometimes they extravegantly rich businesspeople. But the thing is it is only a drama and the they has to create such kind of role for the mere entertainment. Eventhough sometimes they display the negetive role of businesspeople it does not mean that all over the world image of the business people is become negetive because of the television. In television programms there are other programms like news, business news they shows the real word of the business. So it is presupposition that the negetive image of the businesspeople is created largely by television. No one can force anyperson to watch a T.V and think like that. And if we think practically amongst the 100 percent people 50 percent are female and 50 percent are male and amonst them 20 percent are old and 20 percent are childrens. And there are other fields other than a business so only 15 percent are interested in Business.
Secondly, the writer says that mere 10 percent characters in dramatic role on television, businesspeople are responsible for about one-fifth of all the crime on television show. Again the authour fails to understand that show business is "SHOW BUSINESS". They have to create some kind of mistories and charachter of evil mided people for the TRP of the television. So no one can affect to the real business man on the basis of television. In real world businesspeople are very sharp and hardworkers and couragious peoples and they dont have much time to think about this. For instance in India Laxmi Mittal, Ambanis are real businesspeoples. If they are strong none of the negetive image creats impact on them and other people also.
And the third is based on survey of television producers, only 35 percent of the television roles for businesspeople were viewed as positive ones. This argument also baseless because the authour does not disclose what kind of survey they are made and with whom people. Because the authour gives in percentage that 35 percent of the television role for businesspeople were viewed as positive ones. Again there is flaw in this sattement because he is not mentioned the deatil reports of the survey.
Therefore, in view of the above, it can be concluded that the given argument is flawed in a number of respects due to the presence of various logical fallacies. Hence, the argument fails to convince the reader that negative images of businesspeople have been created because of the negative characters in television shows that are businesspeople.
