A nation should require all its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.
Education is what shapes a person's childhood and his/her career in due course. In countries like the United States, there exist private schools and public schools where private schools provide a curriculum very different from public schools. It is generally observed that students adapted to private school life find it difficult to cope up with that of the public school and vice versa. This happens to be so, because of the vast differences in the syllabus and teaching methods adopted in both the types of schools.
Let us consider the education system in a country such as India wherein there are disparities in the syllabus based on the kind of board that runs the schools. The education system in India is divided into boards such as Central Board, State Board, matriculation system, etc in which each board defines a dictinct curriculum for their students.By the time students reach the time of joining college, some students end up finding it difficult to cope up with the syllabus in college, which their curriculum in school did not cover, while it is easier for students coming from other boards that already incorporated the subjects and approaches in school to adapt to the college life.
Lack of common curriculum in the nation foments differences among children at a very young age which is not a very healthy sign for the society.Education is common for all and needs to be equal for all.Students from all schools must go through the same national curriculum until college and as they gear up to join college, they should be in a position to decide on what they would like to specialise in.Accordingly, students must choose specialised subjects or electives in college catering to their interests and career needs.Schools may also provide students with counselling sessions and trainings to help them identify their areas of interests prior to joining college.
