A glance at the table provided reveals some data concerning the figures for consumer spending on diverse items through five representative countries namely, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in 2002.
Overall, it can easily be observed that Turkey spent mainly on food, drinks and tobacco, and also leisure and education as well with being in the precedence over the rest whilst Italy showed the highest percentage in clothing and footwear only, among the countries.
It is readily apparent that, Ireland spent 28.91% on food/drink/tobacco with being almost 10% higher than Spain while there was a slight divergence between Italy and Sweden indicating 16.36% and 15.77% in this trend, respectively. Likewise, Ireland, Spain and Turkey all demonstrated above 6.40% and Sweden indicated the lowest percentage among them (5.40%).
Regarding the category Leisure/Education, it is evident that every country showed lower rates to compare with the other categories. Turkey and Sweden took the priority showing 4.35% and 3.22% whereas Spain revealed the lowest percentage (1.98%).
