Given is a graph revealing striking similarities in the variation of fertility in both China and USA.

The first 15 years-from 1920 to 1935, generally, saw a slight fluctuation at somewhere between 10% to approximately 12.5%. This was followed by a rapid decline which sustained for almost 10 years with China's birth rate reaching the trough in 1940 and having plateaued at 5% until 1945 while, similarly, this rate in the USA plummeted to somewhere below 5% at 1945.
