The professor explains three clear arguments opposing the points stated in the reading passage about the origin of the Voynich manuscript.
First, the professor argues that Ascham was a ordinary physicist which his books didn't presented any novel and cutting-edge knowledge in its own period. Although reading's hypothesis believes that many illustrations, contexts and contents in Voyinch manuscript are similar to Ascham's book, there is no convincing evidence that support this idea. Thus, the professor rejects this proposal.
Second, it is mentioned in the reading that the manuscript may not be genuiue and it could be a fake book which its content is not meaningful and it might created by Kelley in order to gain money with it by pretending that this book has magical powers with made up alphabets. On the contrary, the professor draws that Kelley could use simpler transcripts instead of inventing such complex and advance coding system. As professor states, Kelley was person known as a swindler, but making this complicated and sophisticated coding system is thing that is beyond Kelley's abilities. Hence, this theory is repudiated by professor too.
Third and last, the reading passage asserts that Voynich might wrote this book by himself to sell it for a good price if he receive a attractive and valuable offer. Based on this theory, this is a modern fake version of antique book which only created to sold as a ancient and mysterious one. In contrast, the professor disproves the idea due to the fact that scientists are able to determine objects' date via modern methods, suggesting that if Voyinch wrote this book, he must have used a kind of ink which should be older than 400 years ago. Thus, this theory is rejected by professor either because of lack of sufficient evidences to prove it.
