The line graph illustrates the proportion of visitors to England who went to four different tourist attractions in Brighton at five-year intervals from 1980 to 2010.
Generally speaking, the percentage visiting the Pavilion and Pier increased over the period, while the proportion of visitors to Art Gallery and Festival drop.
In 1980, Pier was the least popular Brighton attraction with just 10% of tourists. Despite some minor fluctuation, this figure rose from 12% in 2000 to roughly 22% in 2010. The percentage visiting Pavilion had grown gradually for the first 15 years and then reached the highest point of the whole graph, approximately 48% in 1955. However, this figure then decline to 35% and 30% in 2000 and 2010 respectively.
The most common Brighton attraction in 1980 for visitors to England was Festival with exactly 30% tourists. However, this figure had decreased slightly to 28% by 2010. There was just above 20% tourists visiting Art Gallery in 1980. It rose significantly to more than 35% in 1985 but this then decreased dramatically to less than 10% in 2010.
