The pie charts below show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
The pie charts compare the proportions of electricity production by five different sources of fuel in two countries in the years 1980 and 2000.
It is noticeable that the units of natural gas in both countries fell, while the units of coal and nuclear power accounted for the largest proportions of fuel sources in Australia and France, respectively. Also, France used more oil than Australia.
In Australia, coal accounted for 50% of sources in 1980, rising to just over three quarters in 2000. By contrast, nuclear power, which was almost 75%, was the most popular fuel sources in France in 2000.
Both countries saw a decrease in electricity production using natural gas, from 20 units to 2 units in Australia and from 25 units to 2 units in France. On the other hand, oil in France is more common than those in Australia. In fact, in 2000, Australia used oil only two units, whereas France used oil up to 25 units. Finally, hydro power grew by 16 units in Australia but dropped by three units in France.
