Directions: You have 20 minutes to plan and write your response. Your response will be judged on the basis of the quality of your writing and on how well your response presents the points in the lecture and their relationship to the reading passage. Typically an effective response will be 150 to 225 words.
Question: Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific points made in the read passage
In the lecture the speaker explains why no one of the benefits presented in the reading serve as explanation of the purpose why we should plant genetically modified trees. The three reasons why the speaker refutes the points that made in the reading will be explained below.
First of all, the lecture asserts that these modified trees maybe will be more resistant than nature trees, but will not survive if they exposed to new conditions. On the other hand, the nature trees some maybe will die, but others will survive because they are not uniform as the modified trees. This point directly refutes the point from the passage, which claims that genetically modified trees are harder than the nature trees and more able to survive.
Second, the professor argues that planting these trees will cost a lot. Since companies that produce them by law will require farmers to pay for them if they want to collect the fruits or vegetables. Again, this contradicts what is stated in the passage, Which claims that planting these trees have a huge economic benefits tothose who grow them.
Finally, the speaker avers that these trees can do more damage to the local trees than anything else. Because, in fact those trees are growing very fast and among the local tress. As a result they need more water and nutrients than the nature tress. This point disputes the point from the passage as well, which is growing modified trees can prevent overexploitation of wild trees.
