The most effective way to understand contemporary culture is to analyse the trends of the youth.
The author asserts that the most effective way to understand contemporary culture is to analyse the trends of the youth. Further, the culture is defined as the tradition and believes of the people. Different country have different cultures. And the youth is responsible for the trends of the culture. However, the culture is the tradition that a younger generation adopts from their predecessors. So, I more or less agree with the topic.
Firstly, as youth is responsible for either destroying or making the culture. They are makers of the contemporary time. Lets take the example of the fashion, the current trend of the fashion industry is to attract more and more youth, as they get attracted to a trend, the older trend become obsolete, and a new trend come in the market. So as the fashion changes, the culture is also effected by it, as different areas have their traditional clothing.
Similarly, in the field of entertainment, the movie and music industry have a different trend in early 19th century, as the youth of that time like more classical music, and similarly, have a different taste of movies. But, the generation of this time loves rock music more as compare to classical. The music industry is more inclined towards rock music. Similarly for the movies.
However, the culture of is not totally depends upon the youths. Christmas was celebrated at early centuries and is today also. People adopt their culture as their elders do. Both younger and older are going to church. Most of the pope in the church are of older age, but people followed them, even younger want to be a pope in future. Similarly, younger are getting inspired by their elders to chose a field. Some want to become doctor as like their father or mother. And some get inspired by their grandfather.
In sum up all, I like to conclude that youth is the responsible for the contemporary culture, but our elder's play the same role to make it more better.
