The article discusses a fascinating topic about the peary journey to reach the north pole and provides three reasons of support. However, professor explains that in the lecture that the evidence are not solid and contradict each of the authors reason.
First, the reading passage discusses that the National geographical team investigated and found that his claims are consistent and persuassive. In contract the professor provides the information that it is true that National Geographics team confirmed that and did not object about anything. But, She states that as the team is composed of his closed friends who sponsored his trip. Moreover, they only took 2 days to investigate it so this is quite biased results. Peary also claimed that records are not investigated thoroughly and carefully. Clearly a discreapency exist between the article and the evidence exhibited by the professor.
Secondly, the article pushes forth the idea about the british explorer who reached there in less than 37 days , so this confirms that the peary also reached there in 37 days. Professor contradicts this statement by saying that British explorer, journey was different from the peary because Envey, took less food with him as the airplane drop food for him. Moreover, when he traveled, weather conditions were quite favourable that's why he reached there speadily. However, things were different when Peary traveled.
Thirdly, the author posits that the photograph which he took on the pole measure the shadow position in the sun. Professor cast doubt about it by saying that this picture was taken 100's of years ago when the techniques were not that advanced and this picture is quite fuzzy and unfocued. Also , as 100 of years passed so that's why now it is faded, worn over and shadows are so blurred that it cannot be used to position the sun.
So, the reading passage and the lectures discussed intresting information about the pears journey towards the north pole. As significant amount of evidence in the lectures supports that while the reading passage fails to justify the claims towards it.
