The article states that an archaeologist in Iraq found a clay jar with copper vessels. He thought that it might be a battery because if it filled with liquids, it will produce electricity. The passage rejects that assumption with three reasons. However, the professor explains that the vessel can be a buttery and reject all reasons of passage.
First, the reading claims that if the vessel was a battery, some wires should be founded around it, but the archaeologist did not find any wire. The professor opposes this point by saying that vessel was founded by local people and they probably did not consider wires and discard them.
Second, the passage states that the copper cylinders are similar to ones discovered in Seleucia. Those cylinders were used to hold the scrolls texts, and they were not for battery. In front, professor mentions that they may use them for holding the scroll, but during the time they found that they can use it as a battery.
Third, the passage mentions that there was no electricity usage for people on that time even if it is a battery, but the professor says that there were many works that they could do with electricity. For example, body shocking, magic power, medicine, and so on.
