The graph below compares figures for production and consumption of energy in US from 1950 to 2000.It also predicts the figures of 2025
The linear graph highlights the energy consumed and produced in US from year 1950 to 2000 and at same time it foretells the trends for 2025. The data is calibrated in units of quadrillion of BTU(British Thermal Units).
It can be seen that, the usage of energy which was 25 quadrillion units in 1950 had raised and reached 95 quadrillion units within 50 years till 2000. In between this imports had been took place. Additionally, it was estimated that; an upsurge will continue during upcoming 25 years, without any downward trend.
Apart from all this, as the graph demonstrates the production of energy; comperatively more stablised. In the year 1975, production started from 25 and upsurged till1950 by 60 quadrillion units. Furthermore, from year 1975 to 2000, it had shown fluctuating trend as well as climbed steadily by 5 quadrillion units. It is predicted that, within 2025, production of energy will be upsurged upto 80 quadrillion units, hence shows upward trend.
Overall, it is evident that, with the tremendous incline in level of energy consumed; imports has been taken place whereas in production there were no imports required.
