The first flow diagram tells the life cycle of silkworm; from eggs to a fully matured moth. whereas, second representation depicts the 6 steps for production of silk cloth.
It can be seen that, mother moth Lays eggs on a Mulberry leaf, within 10 days, silliworm larva hatched out of eggs, and started consuming Mulberry leaves as food. Later on, within a period of 4 to 6 weeks; Larva get covered with Silk thread which then, transformed to cacoon in net 3-8 days. Afterwards, cacoon get converted into adult moth in a period of 16 days.
For silk production, cocoon is selected, boiled in water to remove impurities, which help to elasten the thread; the technique involved is referred as unwinding. During unwinding the length of thread increased up to 300-900m, become stretchable. Afterwards, either cocoon is twisted and dyed or first woven then after, coloured to make usable products of silk like clothes.
