A glance at the depicted bar chart illustrates the proportion of households owned by landlords and tenants in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.
First and foremost, the figure of households in rented was decreasing dramatically while the number of owned houses constantly increasing during the century. Even though, the percentage of neither status of accommodations were equally by 50% in 1971.
One noteworthy feature is that rented accommodation rate was rapidly going down from the peak of almost 80% in 1918 until 30% of scale in 2001 despite the constant rate of 68% in 1939 and 1953.
With regard to owned properties, it escalated steady from 23% in 1918 to almost 70% in 2001. Even if, there was 32% of remarkable equal rates during the 1939 and 1953.
Additionally, the figure of rented accommodation increased slightly in 2011 while the rate of owned houses decreased marginally.
Briefly we can see from that, the percentage of both status of accommodations had inversely relative with each other in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.
