the travel to the mars and some probable problems astronauts may face to.
The text discusses the possibilty of human's traverl to Mars and provides three reasons to states why it belives this mission is not possible. On the other hand, the professor goes against stated claims and by bringing some explanations describes why the travel to Mars is not impossible.
First, the text states that based on this point that this travel will last for two years, none of space vehicles have enough capacity to carry enough water, food and oxygen needed for this long trip. However, the professor refutes this claim and mentions that scientists can use hydroponic technique which provides enough food, water and oxygen for them. She continues that by using this method, astronauts can can grow plants inside the water and provide their needed food. Besides that, these plants can absorb carbon dioxide and convert in into oxygen. Moreover, these cultivated plants can recycle the water and change it into water vapor, which can be changed into drinking water. In this way she states why the capacity of space vehicles is not a reasons for counting the travel to Mars as an impossible mission.
Second, as the text, astronauts should spend a long period of time in zero-gravity situation which makes some health problems for them. In contrast, the professor states that astronauts by doing regular exercises can keep their body and muscles healthy. Moreover, they can take mineral pills like Calcium, which can assure their health. By this point, the professor refutes the claim of health problems made by the text.
Third, the text claims that astronauts expose to some dangerous space radiations emitted by the sun. It also includes that some shields which can be used as a protection add lots of weight to space vehicles, and it makes their use limited. The professor goes against this point and states that all space radiations are not dangerous. She also mentions that the only time sun produces harmful radiations is when it is in its active phase. We can also hear from her that astronauts will not face any problem when the sun is not emitting dangerous radiations. in addition, she bring this point that by using some small shelters, which do not add lots of weight to the vehicle, astronauts can protect themselves against probable harmful radiations.
