As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual well-being. What factors contribute to job satisfaction? How realistic is the expectation for all workers.
Job satisfaction has a vital role in psychological health of people. Each and every person needs a certain level of satisfaction. Therefore, he or she can handle the difficulties of a human life. There are many factors related to the job satisfaction. Such as good salary and have a chance of promotion. In my opinion, the most critical point is social relations and working as member of a group.
On one hand, good salary is tempting at the first glance. However, high salary can be desirable just beside other factors of satisfaction. For example, one, who works lonely in a room for many days far from his relatives, could not feel happy no matter how much he earns. Whereas, it should be noticed that, a minimum amount of earning is necessary for enjoy your work.
On the other hand, some psychologists argue that, there are motivations which can rise everyone sprit. Firstly, everyone needs to find himself improving. Performing some sorts of duties over and over again could make someone feels like a mouse in a maze. Changing duties, rising and using different skills could have positive mental impacts. Secondly, some socialists believe that the most significant part of satisfaction is related to the sense of being beneficial in a community. For instance, there are people works in aiding groups such as Red Cross. They are not always very well paid. Whereas they have a psychological motivation, which compensate low salaries and even raises the level of satisfaction dramatically.
Generally I think people expectations varies in different nations and situations and it could be a very hard to achieve goal to satisfy every worker in the world especially in poor countries, where people are deprived form their first human rights. Whereas some key features are common as we are all humans. Those features should be taken care by employers and should be supervised by the governments and united nation.
