TPO47-W1

The lecturer disagrees with the reading author's view that pterosaurs were unable to fly by flapping their wings for three points.

First of all, the reading passage points out that pterosaurs were cool-blooded like modern reptiles and thus couldn't produce enough energy to meet the requirement of powered flight. On the other hand, the listening passage doubts this thought by stating that pterosaurs were with dense hair-like covering like fur【high hair level coverage 】so that they could maintain their body temperature during cool periods, typically in warm-blooded animals [like birds]. [They were more likely warm-blooded] Thus the metabolism of pterosaurs was more faster than the reading suggests and then they could generate ample energy to support powered flight.

Additionally, the professor in the listening holds a different perspective from the article which believes that pterosaurs were so heavy and large that it's impossible for them to flap wings fast enough to keep in the air. The professor claims that pterosaurs were unusual light for its size due to the some features, for example, the bones of pterosaurs were hollow and pterosaurs were enough light to utilize the approach of powered flight to fly.

At last, the speaker contends that lots of birds walk with two hind legs and thus take off with these two hind legs, but pterosaurs could launch themselves by running and jumping with four limbs which they walked with just like bats and thus studies show that it is probable for them to generate needed push power with four limbs in order to fly by flapping wings. So the view of the article is unplausible.
