Debris
The listening lecture totally opposes to the reading passage in the topic of how to protect airspace from hitting the debris. First of all, the reading says that scientist can try to track the orbit of debris to protect the safety of spaceship. Likewise, the listening argues that this solution is not likely to work. Scientist can only track bigger objects, but many of the debris are small and they can still cause critical damages. In other words, tracking the debris' orbit cannot not prevent spaceships from colliding with smaller particles.
In addition, the reading indicates that by constructing a shield outside the spaceship with a unique metal can spaceships be protected in the collision. However, the listening implies that this is not likely to work. People had try to produce the shield and install it on the spaceship, but these metals are way too heavy. People need to invent a more powerful rocket to take this spaceship to space. Therefore, it is unlikely that this idea will be effective.
Lastly, the reading asserts that using the laser broom to sweep out the debris in the way will be helpful. Nevertheless, the listening is not convinced by this method. Laser broom might be a useful way to clean out the debris, but it can also be use as a weapon in the military. As a result, it will be too controversial for people to use this method.
