The table below shows the amount of waste production (in millions of
tonnes) in six different countries over a twenty-year period.
Write a report for a university, lecturer describing the information
shown below.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main
features and make comparisons where relevant.
The table illustrates how the waste production continue to change in Ireland, Japan, Korea, Poland, Portugal, and the US respectively during the whole period of two decades.
Overall, the US kept the rather high level in waste production taking up the first place during the entire survey time while Japan produce the second largest waste production. Additionally, the waste production of Ireland, Korea, Poland, and, Portugal maintain the relative low level.
In 1980, nearly 131 millions of tonnes(MT) of the waste production is produced by the US, it was clearly the larger than any other countries, and then this figure increased significantly from 151MT in 1990 to 192MT in 2000.
In contrast, the waste production of Japan stood at 28MT in 1980, and then this number grew dramatically to 53MT in the 2000. At the same time, before the waste production of Korea dropped to 19MT in the year 2000, the it almost share the same number(31MT) with Japan, additionally, its data was not given in 1980.
In addition, Ireland, Poland, Portugal kept the relative level of waste production, which the figures are less than 10MT, although the waste production maintain an increasing trend.
