The two graphs below illustrates the smoker percentage and the alcohol consumption in litres in some particular countries between 1960 and 2002. It can be seen from the graph that the percentage of daily smokers declined significantly while the amount of alcohol per person increased sharply during this period of time.
In 1960, the percentage of smokers in holland population came top with 60% and this figure was 1.5 time higher than USA while daily smoker account for a half of japanese population. 40 years later, there were rapid falls in the smoker percentage in those countries. holland and japanese percentage of smokers dropped sharply to approximately 40 % and the number of USA is just over 20%.
By contrast, from 1960 to 2000 saw a sharp go up from 4 and 8 litres per person before dropping slightly to under 10 in holland and USA consumption. In addition, the alcohol per person of Turkey increased slightly from 1 to 2 litres.
