The reading and the lecture both are discussing the methods which can be used to solve the problem of frogs declining. While the reading passage mentioned three possible solutions. However, the lecture refutes all of them giving three strong evidences.
First and foremost, the reading claims that frog declining was due to the use of pesticide chemicals by farmers. However, the lecture refutes this claim by saying that it is not fair to rely on it. Moreover, the professor said that it is very important for farmers to use these chemicals to treat certain diseases that affect their plants and prohibit the spread of these diseases to other plants. This will increase the opportunity to get more crops and be competitive with other farmers and yeild more crops as compared to them.
Second, the reading makes the argument that frogs are declining due to fungus that spread every where with fatal effects, and states the use of antifungal drugs in treating the diseased frogs. Incontrast, the lecture counters this argument saying that it is more expensive and time consuming to use this method, because it requries to treat each individual frog, and it is hard to capture and reach all of them. Furthermore, the professor said this method will not prevent the transmission of disease to offsprings, so the process must be repeated again and again.
Third, the reading states that frogs declined because their natural habitats threatened like; human uses of water that damage the frog's eggs. The lecture refutes this claim by saying that it is not true that the uses of water causes the harm to the habitats. Additionally, the professor said that global warming is the main cause that contributed to many habitats cause the extinction and it is not the human.
