Your local council is considering closing a sport and leisure centre that it runs, in order to save money. Write a letter to the local council. In your letter:
give details of how you and friends or family use the centre
explain why sport and leisure centre is important for the local community
describe the possible effects on local people if the centre closes.
Dear Mr.Davis
Recently, we heard devastating news that "Startreck" mall is going to be closed permanently. Certainly this closure would have a deteriorating effect on our local community in terms spending quality time and availability of nearby shops.
Since opening of the centre, my family and friends always used it services. Especially during weekends all of us gather there to have meal and have our kids enjoy their playground. Moreover, almost all the clothes we wear were purchased at this mall.
The idea of our centre being forever closed ignites nightmares to me and I am pretty sure some other folks have similar feelings. Most probably, this incident will be a root for further issues such as people will start considering to move away from our neighborhood, various services will shut down and even schools and other educational centers will feel the strain. For instance, sport shops will suffer in the decreased revenue and, therefore, they will be forced to take measures to cut expenditures. Close by colleges will look less attractive for students because they need place for leisure time. Undoubtedly, more possible outcomes out of this situation could be imagined and all of them would have negative effect on our community. Please help us stop the closure.
Yours faithfully,
