TOEFL T P O 1 - Integrated Writing Task
According to the text, with 4-day works instead of 5-day works, employees, companies and countries can benefit more. but the professor does not agree with this point of view.
first, The author says that with 4-days workweek, employees could benefit from more free times so they can rest more. this in turns result into higher works quality done by employees, so companies can benefit also from this working system. In this system, company pay 80 percent of salary to its employees but have to hire more employees to keep the amount of job as same as the 5-day workweek system. but the professor refutes this point of view. he says as the company hires new employees, it has to spend more money for training and health programs over them, that obviously results to spend more money. Furthermore, the new employees need more spaces and more equipments like computers, that results into higher costs.
second, the author expresses the idea results into lower unmployment rate, but the professor refute this claim. he says that more employees becom costly for companies. The companies maybe ask from their employees to increase their working time. also if a company increase its expectation, the employees have to work more to increase the company’s benefit. if thi happens, the current jobs become unpleasant.
Finally, the author makes claim that with 4-day workweek system, the life’s quality of employees increases. but the professor does not agree with this point of view. he says that with this idea, employees risk on their lives and therefore decrease their quality of lives. also, their ability to do their jobs become decreased. therefore, the idea can result the 4-day employees become the first group that lost their jobs in the economic crisis.
