Households with a regular use of a car , Great Britain
The given line graph describes the percentage of families using cars in England during the period of 36 years , starting from 1971 to 2007.
Overall, it is clear that the proportion of households with no car and one car shared a decrease while the opposite was true for that with two cars and three or more cars.
In 1971, being just nearly 48%, the percentage of families with no car experienced a sharp downward trend to 30% in 1995 while that with one car fluctuated slightly, standing at approximately 45%. Then, this figure for households with a car still continued this trend and fell minimally to 44% but it end 1st place at the end of period. From 1995 to 2007, the proportion of families with no car still dropped gradually to 25%, a half of starting value.
On the other hand, in 1971, standing at above 7%, the rate of households using two cars saw a dramatic rise to 21%, nearly 5 times as much as that with three or more cars in 1995. After 1995, this figure for families with two cars continued a significant increase, nearly 20% more than that with three or more cars, being at 27% and 7% respectively in 2007.
