Write a letter to your boss apologising for the recent meeting you missed at work.
1. Apologise for missing the meeting.
2. Explain what happened.
3. Say what you will do to compensate.
Dear Mr. Johnson,
I am writing this letter to apologize for not participating to the marketing meeting yesterday.
I am deeply sorry for the occasion. I wish I could attend the meeting which was significant for the 2020 marketing budget of the firm.
Yesterdar, I could not come to the event, because my car broke down when I was on my way to work. After I stopped the car to check the engine, I realized that there were gas all below the car. I directly called the police and the repairman. They took the car to the service to replace the oil filter, therefore it took me 2 hours to arrive to work because of this unexpected incident.
I will talk with the Finance Manager, John Smith, and express the breakdown of the marketing budget of 2020 month by month today. After finishing my daily routine, I will work overtime today for the marketing slides that are needed to be prepared for the senior management in advance which you have optionally requested me. I would be glad if you can share your availability of next week to choose the date of that executive meeting.
I look forward to hearing from you regarding your availability, and once again I feel sorry for my absence.
Yours sincerely,
Ali Larter
