The graph below shows the quantities of goods transported in the UK between 1974 and 2002 by four different modes of transport.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The given line graph provides the data which is figured in the UK and about the amount of commodity delivered by a variety of ways in the 1974 - 2002 period. In the general observation, there were great fluctuation in all modes but while the others had the upward trend, goods transported on the railway almost stayed the same point in the year of 2002 as in 1974.
First of all, the British showed the preference of using the shipment by vehicles on the road over the 28 - year time frame. Therefore, it led to the upsurge of this mean, especially in the end of 20th century, to reach its peak which is roughly 100 million tonnes. With the same accelerations, cargo followed the previous one by increasing significantly to occupy the second place (a mere more than 60 million tonnes of commodity dispatched). Finally, from 1974 to 2002, it marked the gradually climbing progress of pipeline delivery that its figure rose to over 20 millions of tonnes whereas the quantities remained the same in the transfer to the 21st century.
On the other hand, it is evident that the amount of goods transported by train had the opposite direction. It marginally decreased to reach the lowest point before augmenting to the approximate number as the one in 1974.
In conclusion, while the delivery on the road, water and railway expressed remarkable development, the amount of commodity though pipeline did change nominally in the UK between 1974 and 2002.
