The given chart shows the results of the research of the survey in us, swedan and japan about the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040. Overall, the chart tends to go up during the survey period despite slight fluctuations.
It can be noticed that proportion of population aged 65 and older from 1940 to 1960 of us and swedan tends to go up while the country located in Asian increase significantly. After that point of time, the percentage of old age population in three country increase steadily. Specifically, japan is the country have old population growth rate increase much slower than others in this research. However, japan has the lowest rate in the early 40s but also reached the highest percentage during a century which is approximately 26%.
To sum up, the chart shows positive signs of improving life expectancy. but this is also a challenge for countries, typically japan, to face an aging population and storage of young workers.
