The bar below shows the estimated percentage of car trips taken by drivers in 2005.
The bar graph compares the estimated proportion of car trips made by male and female drivers in 2005. It is also noticeable that work was the primary reason for car trips in both genders. While women show little interest in visiting town, going to bank and running errands were for males.
Men drove their cars primarily for work purposes, which was higher than women by around 13% to just over a half. The other two reasons where the number of car trips taken by males exceeded that of females were recreation and visiting town, with approximately 10% each and for men and just under 5% each for women.
Shopping was the major reason for females to use their cars at just below 20% as opposed to males at exactly 10%. Similarly, the figure for women was bigger than men at roughly a tenth and almost 10% respectively. The remaining three purposes which were running errands, going to bank and visiting a friend were more popular in women with car trips of about 10% each as compared to men at just under 5% with each category.
