There is some theories about the agnostides which had been extincted 450millions years ago.
The reading and listening passages have conflicting opinions about a group of extincted marine animals that had called Agnosite. That was one of the arthropodian specious. The reading presents three reasons. The lecture , on the other hand, categorically refutes all three episodes of theories mentioned in the passage. Citing that each of three theories has serious weakness.
First, the reading states that the agnostides may have been strong predators. On the contrary, the lecturer opposes this due to some evidences that there isn't any fossils to recognize it exactly. The professors declares that arthropods have large well-developed eyes. However agnostid had tiny poorly eyes or even they had been blind and they never been predator as all.
Second, the writer claims that agnostids would have survived by grazing on bacteria because they had been inhabited on the seafloor like other primitive arthropods. In contrast, the listening contends this theory by concentrating on movements of seafloor's animals. It's their features that they can't move very fast or far. Evidences show that each agnostid had been seen on multiple geographic area in large distance. Consequently, it is unusual for seafloor animals.
Finally, the reading believes that the agnostids were parasite. Whereas, the author declares this theory was ruled out due to size of parasite's populations. This means that population of parasites can't be so large. But fossils of agnostides suggested that they had large population before.
