The maps below show the center of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
The provided pictures demonstrate the proposed differences in the central area of Islip before and after numerous developments.
Overall, the town is expected to change dramatically in the new design/after its transformation. The most striking development/feature is the introduction of a ring road surrounding the centre accompanying more shops and houses in the town.
At present, there is only a main road stretching from the west to the east of the town with various shops located exactly on both sides. The large area in the south is relatively empty with only some housing in the middle, a park and a school to the east and the west of the houses.
After the renovation, The main road is projected to be pedestrianized, while the southern part of Islip is bound to be unchanged. Meanwhile, the existing residential building near the shops will be relocated to the west giving space for a new one constructed in close proximity to the park. In the northern part, the shops and the countryside will disappear to make way for a bus station, shopping center, car park, and a new housing area.
