The graph below shows the unemployment rates in US and Japan between March 1993 and March 1999.
The given line graph indicates how the unemployed rates changed in two countries in march over the period 1993 to 1999.
According to the graph, in Japan, the percentage of unemployment rate showed a rise from 2,5% to just over 3,5% between 1993 and 1995 with some variations. In the next a year, the trend held a noticeable rise to just under 4,5%. After that, there was also an increase together with experiencing mild flutuations and it reached a peak of over 5% in 1998. The percentage represented a decline to 5% at the end of the period.
On the other hand, in US, the number of people who had an unemployed status was much more than Japan being 7% in 1993. However, the number witnessed a period of instability during the next years and decreased to over 5,5% in 1996. Till the end of the period, it also declined to 5%.
Overall, there was an increase the unemployment rate in Japan while the rate was registred with a corresponding decrease in US.
