being teenagers, what we want to have is a good future, so we are not addicted to finding the best answer for the question “what makes us successful?”. success is an abstract concept which based on personal thought. To be successful in the twenty-first century, I think that we need three characteristics such as time, spirit, and luck.
As we all know that “practice makes perfect”, so being successful we must have enough time to practice. As long as someone has aptitudes for doing something, we also need short time. However, if the others are not intelligent, they can make success after failures from take full advantage of time because time allows them to practice again and again and accumulate more experience. In this case, we can see that success is not a straight way for people without talents. For example, we can see that having a person who spends whole life on study, fortunately when getting older, they possibly reach success – finding out something useful as their wish.
spirit is the most necessary need for someone to succeed because this trait must combine with the first one to show that the spirit of not giving up – their enthusiasm, bravery, and constancy in front of adversity. like the saying “better luck next time”, we must make an effort to gain our targets, so after failures what we need to do is the most important thing. Keep dream and try to do it better than as well as possible if we want to get success. Moreover, this feature like the image of tumbler in Japanese traditional culture, it means after failures we need to stand up on own feet.
From my point of view, we can believe that luck is also the great characteristic, which will help us become successful. we used to hear the idiom “ an oz of luck is better than a pound of wisdom”, sometimes we can take advantage of unexpected chance to succeed. we call “ luck”, it means that the chance only comes one time, so we need take it on time like the saying “no time like the present” if we will not “miss a boat”. being students, we must reflect on which job we want to do in the future to choose suitable major when studying at university.
In conclusion, being successful we need to have some of these traits such as time on practicing, constant spirit of thinking, and luck in doing. Besides, there are many means to an end, so we should determine who you are and what abilities you have to choose suitable way to get success.
