Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, most people must follow the self-quarantine at home in order to stop the spreading of this pandemic. Thus, people have put their efforts to find out the effective way for online instruction. Among various apps which supporting this method, as Zoom, Google Meet,... Facebook is considered to be the most popular tool for online working. However, besides the advantages, there is no denying that Facebook has brought some problems.

Firstly, regarding the advantages, using Facebook is actually a manageable tool for us to work and study online. Since Facebook is known as the most popular networking-site and most of us know how to use it, it takes us no time to familiar with new platforms. For instance, with other tools, as Zoom or Google Meet, we obviously need time to familiarize with the apps, as how to share the screen or how to turn on/turn off the mic,... Another strength of using Facebook as a mean of online instruction is free cost. Due to the fact that Zoom only provides 40 minutes for each free meeting, lecturers must pay a cost to have no limited meeting. In contrast, with Facebook site, we could use it as an online learning without paying any costs. The final advantage of using Facebook for online instruction is the time-flexibility. With the studying group site, lecturers could post topic discussions or homework with the certain deadlines. Thus, students could have the flexible control to do and hand in homework in their ability.

On the dark side, there is undoubted that beside advantages, Facebook also has brought some drawbacks. First, lecturers could not have the control of students’ attendance. Because of the fact that Facebook has not provided the online meeting, students may not pay their attention on the subjects until the deadlines coming. Furthermore, as other tools which supporting online instruction, people must have the stable connection to the Internet. Although the Internet connection has become more developed in these days, people find it difficult to connect to the web in rural areas. Consequently, some students said they sometimes could not be online due to the Internet connection. Lastly, though Facebook is considered as a good place to express and discuss ideas, it could not as be effective as face to face discussion. Hence, using Facebook is just a temporary method for instruction while we are in the self-quarantine time.

In conclusion, using Facebook as a mean of online construction has brought both strengths and drawbacks. Therefore, in our difficult time of the Covid-19 outbreak, there are more efforts that we must put in order to limit the disadvantages, as well as promote the advantages to have more effectively online-learning time.
