The pie charts below show the average household expenditures in Japan and Malaysia in the year 2010

The two pie charts compare the proportion of domestic spending on five important categories in two countries namely Japan and Malaysia in 2010.
Overall, it is evident that while the Japanese spent the vast majority of their income on other commodities and services, the highest proportion of the money was used for housing in Malaysia. Moreover, the percentage of household spending on transport and health care sectors in Japan was double that of Malaysia.
It can be seen from the charts, 29% of the household’s budget in Japan paid out for other goods and services, compared to 26 percent with Malaysia. In contrast, the amount of money was allocated for the accommodations segment in Malaysia was significantly higher than that of Japan ( 34% and 24% respectively ). The opposite trend can be seen when we look at the health care aspect in both countries, this aspect accounted for only 6% and 3% in Japan and Malaysia respectively.
The year 2010 experienced a nearly similar trend in the proportion of expenses for food in two nations, Malaysia took up 27% and Japan made up 24% of the total. Turning to the remaining sector, expenditure on transport in Japan was exactly double that of the cost of living for this sector in Malaysia.
