The map below is of the town of Canterburry. A new school (S) is planned for the area. The map shows two possible sites for the school.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The picture depicts two proposed sites for a new school in Canterbury. Overall, one suggested location is in the countryside whereas the other one is in the center of the town.
Regarding the first site (S1), the school is planned to be out of the residential area, to the southeast of the university. As a result, it may take students longer time to commute from housing area to the school. However, the school will be located not far from the road to Sturry. This may facilitate the commuting of students from this town. If there are students coming from Chartham, which is 7 kilometers to the southwest, they would be able to reach the school by taking the main road that runs south to west of Canterbury.
As regards the second site (S2), it is suggested that the school will be in the town centre where there is no traffic zone. Therefore, parents would not be able to drive their children all the way to school. On the other hand, this location is closer to the housing area. This may lead to less time-consuming commuting of students living in the residential area. In addition, Sturry and Chartham will be relatively equidistant from the new school. As a result, it may be more accessible for students who are from these areas.
