" STRES IS NOT A BAD THING "
Stress is something that we often encounter and we often experience it in our daily lives. It would be impossible for a human to never experiences problems. There are many things that can trigger feelings of stress, for example stress due to a never ending task, stress due to the car and motorcycle installments but forced to be in arrears because you have just been fired from work, or stress because of having bad incidents many times at the same time. Things like this, often trigger people to experience stress because they feel very burdened or depressed and they feel unable to face and control this situation. From the examples of things that trigger stress, it can be seen that stress is more dominated by negative or bad feeling but is stress really like that? and what about stress from a psychological point of view?.
In psychology, stress is a feeling of emotional strain and pressure. Stress is also a psychological pain which is usually characterized by the following symptoms: the first is emotional changes, or mood changes which are usually known as mood swings, the second is physical changes such as weakness, dizziness, etc., the third is changes cognitive, for example, it is difficult to focus, always pessimistic, and often thinks negatively, and the last one is marked by changes in behavior, usually people who experience stress will become irresponsible of the things they are responsible for, or they will take it out on bad things such as consuming drugs or alcohol. Actually stress is not as bad as we think, there are some positive sides of stress that we often experience, due to the fact that we need stress in our lives to continue living, this positive stress is called eustress, this is where stress plays a role because stress is a signal of uncomfortable feelings can encourage us to avoid the threat of danger and this feeling, also forces us to get out of the threat. However, if we have never experienced stress, it is likely that we will continue to lie down and be unproductive, even though we are experiencing a lot of problems, work accumulated or have just been dropped by loved ones, if we don't feel stressed about it then we won't work, won't get money to eat, can't meet our daily needs, then end up lonely and depressed. Basically this stress is good purpose, it only remains how we respond and view stress more positively. if we think that stress is a challenge to develop, then our response to stress will be positive as well and this is what is known as the human need for stress.
If we think stress is a negative threat that we cannot solve and will eventually cause a bad response to stress and this is called distress. So, the same thing that happens to everyone can be good stress or bad stress depending on the perception and response of each person. Unfortunately, most people think that the ideal life is a life without problems or without stress, so they avoid stress even though they are just experiencing distress, because they don't have the right mindset to think stress is a natural thing and human needs to develop. There are several things we can do when dealing with stress, the first is that we must be aware that we are experiencing it and that is a natural thing, find out the root of the problem and understand where the stress comes from, the second is to perceive that stress is a challenge to develop so that we can be more resilient, the third is to find out what we can and cannot control because we can find out what strategies we can do to solve the problems we experience and we don't have to question things that we cannot control, the fourth, perceives that stress is not always negative so we don't need to feel overthinking, anxious, because all problems can be faced. Nevertheless, If you feel that you already followed all the tips and steps but are still stressed too, you can consult an expert.
