In 2012, at a staggering 78%, the percentage of large businesses making use of social media was the highest. Meanwhile, medium and small firms made less use of social networking sites as these figures accounted for roughly 32% and 27% respectively.
Over the next two years, there was a slight drop of 2% in large corporations' usage of social media. Conversely, the proportion of medium and small firms using social networking sites for business purposes witnessed a steady increase to 48% and 35% in turns. After hitting the bottom at 55% in 2015, large companies' usage of social media suddenly surged to 79% in 2016. A similar trend was recorded in small and medium corporations, as these figures experienced a steep decline to 30% in 2015, then bounced back to around 50% at the end of the period.
