Undergraduate students majoring in Business or in the Sciences should not be required to take any courses in the Humanities since those courses won’t benefit their future careers.
Write a response to the prompt in which you discuss whether or not you agree or disagree. Be certain to fully develop your position and carefully consider ways in which your position could be challenged.
Selecting subjects for undergraduate students is not as big of a deal as even after classes have started, many students end up ruminating over their decision of choosing specific subjects for a long time. Choosing a subject is not a fixed process with strict deadlines and various colleges still allow students to change their selected subjects or even change entire fields after few months of trying it. Prompt suggests that for students majoring in buiseness and Science, no subjects of humanities should be required in the curriculum. I strongly agree with this suggestion due to the following three reasons.
To begin with, a student gets an opportunity to learn all the subjects (a blend of science, buisness and humaninties) prior to undergraduation. During this period of learning, students get to develop their knowledge in a much broader light. This in turn helps them to assess various fields of their interests and select that one field that they want to persue furthur in undergraduation. This helps them be aware of all the subjects and develop an expertese in area of their interest. Demanding students to select any other subjects at this stage will create a system where everyone is studying everything and no one is an expert in one field. For instance, if doctors in medical school are made to chose a subject related to history, we can imagine how a student who is sound in bilogy can end up struggling history in due to the huge diffenrence in the two fields. This will not only add to additional stress on the student but may also hamper the development of student in subjects of their choice if time is not managed well.
Further, it is not just that humanitie's courses will not benefit students in future career but also studying for different sujects that are not related to their majors will impact the grades negatively for many students. For instance, a student who is studying for buiseness will have to spend more number of hours to understand any subject related to politics due to the difference in the curriculum of both. Either this will be the case of in other scenario the students might not take such sujects seriosly as they wil not contribute to their careers. Both ways it will impact their score badly, so not studyuing a subject is better during uncergraduation than studying it iwth half heart.
Some people may argue that students need to have knowledge of all the fields, be it humanities or buiseness or science. But isn't this the same reason that we are all taught all the fields together in primary school. In conclusion, as the level of education increases students need to focus on a narrow field and develpe their expertese in that particular subject only, otherwise we might never be able to get the most expert scientists or buiseness owners we see today,
