pros and cons of studying abroad

Essay topics:

pros and cons of studying abroad

A growing number of students nowadays have the tendency to study abroad during their time in high school or university. This subject brings both advantages and disadvantages.
Sending students to study abroad can broaden the mind of them. In developing countries like Vietnam, the scientific research implementing ability and studying advanced knowledge are still, quite limited. Therefore, schools for specialized students have been established to develop the country. However, the limited source of information and arduous task of theoretical learning seems to be difficult for the country to attain the ambition of development. Because of that, sending students in specialized schools to absorb the knowledge in developed countries, then practise them in Vietnam is a novel idea.
Nevertheless, the cons are quite discernible. One of the top prestigious high school in Vietnam, or as many people would consider the highest ranking specialized school in Vietnam - Hanoi Amsterdam, has been sending 35% of its students each year to top universities from all over the world since the beginning of the school. Unfortunately, contrary to the expectations of those Vietnamese who pay an incredible amount of tax to support Hanoi Amsterdam, most of these students prefer to stay and serve the countries they studied without returning. This debatable topic has lead to a controversial discussion about shutting down Hanoi Amsterdam in 2020. More surprisingly, this debate was started by a Vietnamese professor - who spent his high school year in Hanoi Amsterdam.
These two points which have just been raised are just subjective perspective of mine which mainly only consider the pros and cons of studying abroad bring to an impoverished country, Yet, there still benefits and drawbacks studying abroad bring an individual.
In conclusion, studying abroad bring both advantages and disadvantages.
