The given illustrates provides the percentage of people’s expenditure on various goods and services in one country in Europe in the two particular years, namely 1958 and 2008.
It is clear that the proportion of income that people spent on clothing was highest in 1958. Besides, there was a change after 50 years when people showed their preference for housing rather than other types of commodities and services in 2008.
In 1958, the number of people’s spending on clothing was nearly a third, about 33% while people's expenditure had the lowest percentage in food, just 8%. In 2008, the percentage of spending on housing was highest and was twice bigger than that on entertainment, about 32% and 16%. In addition to, most people don’t like spending in traveling in 2008, just 6%.
The was an increase from 22% to 32% in the proportion of people’s spending on housing between 1958 and 2008 while the opposite was true for clothing over the period of 50 years, about 32% in 1958 and 12% in 2008. Furthermore, the number of people’s expenditure accounted 18% on entertainment and 13% on travel in 1958 before dropping by 16% on entertainment and 6% on travel in 2008. On opposite site, the figure of people’s spending on food and luxury good had the same stable in 2008, about 17% after climb from 8% on food and 7 % on luxury goods in 1958.
