The provided pie charts depict the ratio of sodium, saturated fat and added sugar in four average daily meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, which are consumed by the American and the overconsumption of these three nutrients may be detrimental to health.
Overall, intake of sodium and saturated fat are rich in dinner and lunch, while added sugar is mostly eaten in snacks. In addition, breakfast is least nutrient-dense whereas lunch and dinner have high portion of these nutrients.
Regarding sodium and saturated fat, both kinds of nutrients are mostly taken into from dinner which account for 43% and 37% respectively while the percentages of them in lunch ranks secondly, with 29% and 26%. Intake of these two nutrients during breakfast and snacks are comparatively lower than the other two meals, around 14% - 20% each time.
In term of added sugar, there was a greatest disparity between snacks and other meals. The proportion of this nutrient makes up over 40% for snacks, which is nearly double the figure of dinner, at 23%, and is considerably higher than this ratio in lunch with 19%. The same as other types of nutrients, breakfast is not dense in added sugar, just 16%.
