Overall, what stands out from the graph is that there were upward trends in the proportions of population over 65 years over the period.
In particular, when it comes to Japan, the figure stood at 5% in 1940 before falling slightly to roughly 3% in the following 20 years. At this point, the percentage of over 65 year-old people increased significantly to 10% in 2020 after levelling off at 3% in 1980. Afterwards, the given graph is predicted to witness a considerable climb in the percentage of population aged 65 years and over to a peak of approximately 28% in 2040, which will account for the highest score.
In contrast, concerning Sweden and USA, the figures started at around 7% and 9% respectively in the begining of the period. Afterthat, the graph experienced upward fluctuations between 10% and 20%.
