The graph below shows the amount of electricity produced from different energy sources to supply the city of New York between 1980 and 2000.
The line graph compares the productions of electricity from coal, natural gas and petroleum between 1980 and 2000.
It is clear from the graph that there was an upward trend in the amount of electricity produced from petroleum and natural gas ,and a downward movement at the electricity produced from coal.
The period between 1980 and 1990 the production of electricity reached at 600 millions kWh after boomed from 350 millions kWh at the start of the period. There was a sharp increase from 1990 and 2000 , about 370 millions kWh.
Meanwhile, the quantity of electricity produced from coal begin at over 200 millions kWh , then experienced a gradual upturn for 100 millions kWh. At the end , it fell slightly to under 200 millions kWh and the electricity made by natural gas became the second highest amount of production.
