The figures below show the changes in the number of graduates in the UK and percentages of 5 groups of graduates working in different fields from 1992 to 2002.
The line graph and the column chart illustrate the changes and differences in the number of graduate students in the UK and the proportions of five career groups of graduates over a decade between 1992 to 2002. Overall, what stands out from the graph is that graduates in 1997 dominated the number of others over the period. Besides, there were downward trends in Professional, Management, and other fields, except for Secretarial, Sales that bucked the trend.
In particular, when it comes to the number of graduates, there was a slight decrease of 10,000 to 170,000 people in 2002 after sharply growing from 165,000 people in the beginning of the period to a peak of 180,000 people in 2002.
Additionally, concerning Professional and Management, the percentages of these aspects stood at 30%, 20% in 1992, then gradually declined to 20%, 15% in 2002 respectively. In stark contrast, in terms of Management and Sales, it demonstrates the opposite trend, the graph witnessed a considerable rise from 15%, 22% to 25%, 28% in 2002 accordingly.
Regarding Others, the figure fluctuated during the period, standing at 14% in 1993, then it culminated at 15% in 1997, followed by a fall of 3% in 2002, which constantly accounted for the lowest percentages.
