The pie chart illustrates the proportion of water usage for agriculture, industrial and domestic purposes, in six regions of the world (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Central Asia and Southeast asia).
Overall, most regions use its water resource for agriculture whereas, North America and Europe make their water resource available for their industries. Domestic usage is comparitively more in South America than other areas.
In terms of agriculture, Central Asia uses around 88% of its water, followed by Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America with 84%, 81%, and 71% respectively. North America and Europe contributes far less compared to other countries (39% and 32% each).
For industrial needs, Europe contributes more than half of its water and secondly, North America gives a little less than half (48%) of its water. However, rest of the regions spends a small fraction of its water for industries. Domestic usage is by far the least water consuming field in all regions of the world except South America (19%).
