Presented for consideration is a line graph detailing figures for the financial state of a New Zealand municipality from 2012 to 2022.
Overall, it can be seen that there was a fluctuation in the number of borrowings and it reach a low point in 2016, while grants and subsidies peaked at the same time. Meanwhile, another observation is that the amount of rates revenue increased slightly year by year and similar to user charges.
Looking at the graph in further detail, in 2016 borrowing had the first and also the highest decrease from 1200 to 700 between 2014 and 2016. However, borrowing rose significantly and reach a peak at 1400 in 2020. In relation to grants and subsidies, it increased to 1300 in 2016 quite similar to borrowing but that was the highest point of it throughout the years.
Turning to rates revenue, it started from the highest and increased every year. In 2022, rates revenue still the highest with 2400. At the same time, there was also a rise to 2000 in user charges at the end of the period
